Open Strum features Michel Goguen, a musician and founder of the Music for Critters fundraiser to help animals and the environment.
Open Strum is donating 100% of the proceeds from his album to the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada. Open Strum's music features collaborations with Dr. Jane Goodall, Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), Jared Scharff (Saturday Night Live), Hossam Ramzy (Robert Plant), Chris Church (Jesse Cook), Jah'Mila, Hubert Francis and more. Music for Critters is a national project with schools across Canada to help animals and the environment. Students participate by bringing donations to help animal rescues, animal shelters, animal sanctuaries and environmental non-profits.
Dr. Jane Goodall, Sarah McLachlan, Dr. David Suzuki, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Heart, Robbie Robertson, Rosanne Cash, Rick Mercer, Lukas Nelson, Ingrid Newkirk, Alan Doyle, Elizabeth Lesser, Ani DiFranco, Sam Roberts Band, Francis Cabrel, Pierre Robichaud, Dr. Anne Innis Dagg, Joel Plaskett, John Butler Trio, Antonine Maillet, Matt Andersen, Caroline Savoie and more have participated in previous Music for Critters projects.
